im at it again with my buddy's 01 zx6r, i am about to take the carbs off a third time. lol. i finally got it to idle without choke. i have the mixture screw turned out 3 1/2 turns, i was told it has a jet kit not sure on the stage, but i know the bike was used for recreation non pro track time. anyways next problem is any revs over 3-4k get stuck on the return. if i snap to say 7-8k it will drop to 5k stay there a sec or two then very slowly come back down, i have had the carbs apart cleaned and cleaned again. im now leaning toward bad float vlaves and seats. does this make sense to anyone else. the bike did sit for about 2 yrs. fresh gas is being used. any suggestions. thanks in advance.

I Had the same problem on my zx6r 00 it sat for 3years I cleaned the carbs like 3times before I got it to turn over. You need to check the jets if it's clogged with residue from the old gas. Also look if all the seals are good not cracked. As for the jet kit I have a dyno jet kit stage 1 they only make stage 1 no other stage.the mixture screw should be in the Manuel that's where I found mines, the idle screw should also be checked regular idle should be 1200 +- 50. And the part where u said it would stay a 5thousand rpm for a sec it could be that it's to rich.
