Default Break in period?

I read the owners manual on breaking in the engien before 1k, keeping the RPM's below 4-6k. Does anyone have anything else to add? How about info on breaking in the chain/suspension before making adjustments?

Never heard of anyone breaking in chain/suspension- theyre good to go from day 1.

I never stuck to 6,000 or below for breakin. Read anywhere on the internet and no one will suggest staying at those rev's. Nor should you be flogging the crap out of it and redlining frequently.

Im no expert on this topic, best thing to do is go to zx10r.net and search for engine break in threads. As for the manual, i reckon they state this so people wont go nuts in the first few k's. Kinda like a cautious reminder.

i just got my 2009 zx-6r today and it is absolutely impossible to keep it below 4k rpm (much less 6k) without riding like a complete grandma. Its crazy how quick it wants to rev up. I've been keeping it under 8k rpm for now (70 miles) and been easy on the throttle.

You cant keep it below 4,000rpm its just impossible, the temptation is just too great . I used most of the rev range when breaking in my 6r, ive done 24,000km/ 14,900Miles and it hasn't skipped a beat.

I only have 120 miles on the bike now. Where I live it rains all the time, and being a new bike instead of used I'm babying it. I manage to keep it below 6k RPM but I have to shift through all the gears alot! I brought it up to 8k and man it wanted to take off!!! I don't know if I can wait another 880 miles before going over 6k.

I kept it under 8k rpm for the first 600 miles or so except for a few occasions. Now I've done the first oil change and I am gonna ride it like it should be ridden.
