Post Is it easy to wheelie an 07/08 ZX6R?

I was wondering how easy it is to wheelie my 08 ZX6R. I'm currently trying to follow mototuneusa's advice on proper break in procedures to seat the piston rings. Thing is, if I open up the throttle fully just up til about 13K rpm in 1st or 2nd gear will the front wheel launch up? This is my first sportbike and I don't want to take any risks until I'm used to the power. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

trust me when i say the mototune method and its techniques has been beaten more than any other on this site as well as others so at some point in your sportbike owning days/years you'll be able to decern legit techniques from utter :bs:when you read it.

i thgt it was pretty easy to walk some standups on my friends 07 6r but ive been on the backtire half my life....lol....... i just clutch up second round 7or8k and then once its up right wirst control is the key......but yes it will go down the road as far as you want on one tire.....

[QUOTE=ZX6Ray;880630] Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Just do a little first gear chop the throttle & hit it type wheelies for awhile to get a feel for balance, etc. Take your time.

ALWAYS wear ALL the gear.

NEVER do it around any traffic.

You have your whole life to practice it. That can be a long time and lots of fun.............or it can be a short time & very costly.

1st gear is too unpredictable for me. Try pulling it up in 2nd gear. That work best for me when I had my 6R

Did you start trying in 2nd on your first sportbike? Yes, to ride one out some it's easier in 2nd, but to start getting a feel for one wheel, I think first is a little safer.

But what the heck...........just have someone with a video camera handy!

Oh, tell me this bike is NOT financed!

Well I got it fully insured including comprehensive and it doesn't have a lienholder. :deathmeta I'll experiment with it after I set the front sag at 32mm and the rear at 35mm and yes, I have all the right equipment. Yes I do find mototune's advice a bit misleading now:jerkit:, the engine isn't the only thing breaking in ya know besides myself

I have an 05 636 and it will lift up the front end pretty easy, not like my 10r but still enough to get the hang of it. Dont worry so much about how good you can wheelie, that will come with more time in the saddle, concentrate on good street riding and how YOUR bike handles different things. Have fun, I practiced one wheelers in an empty parking lot, by just pre-loading in 1st gear and then slipping the clutch in 2nd.
