Error code 39 ECU communication error

So licked up this ninja and tried to get her goin but it was throwing me the FI code 39 (ECU communication error). So I decided to pull the trigger on a ECU and replaced it. That didn't fix the code and it still ain't running, I also don't hear the fuel pump prime but I do hear the throttle bodies adjust. Anyone know anything? I'm thinking maybe the junction relay box next? I've check all the fuses and wires but I'm out of ideas.

I did find a broken wire going to the relay box that I think relates to the fuel pump. reattached it.

ok,so I replaced the relay box and no luck. the broken wire I found probably caused a short somewhere cause now im not getting any spark.

the FI code went away though after reconnecting the broken wire...go figure... but still not running. Its still turning over but not going, and when I turn it on I don't hear the fuel pump still. so I guess now its time to check the pump and see if its shot and then the coil packs and then just check everything if I didn't find the problem with the first to things.

I don't know if this will play into it, but there isn't a key for it and so I have it wired right now...is there a resistor in the ignition and that might be a reason why no spark?

I despise electrical work but its going slowly for now. thanks for all the support!

Yes there is a resistor, the bike will not start without it.
